Join the Artistic Cohort to play with the choreographic through dancing, thinking, dreaming, witnessing and studying together.
Across these sessions the Artistic Cohort are opening some of the individual and collective questions they've been busy with across the last two years of Rose Choreographic School:
What can we do in a studio?
How can our practices pollute each other?
How do we think and learn through difference?
How do we sustain being in relation to one another?
We have no answers, the studios are open: Come speculate with us.

Event Name: Sitting with Dykes
Event Date: Thursday 29th 2026
Event Time: 3-5:30pm
Event Location: Sadler's Wells East, Stratford
This session is facilitated by Heidi Rustgaard.
Sitting with/as Dykes is a poetic and embodied exploration of queerness, presence, and perception that questions queer representation, grounded in the simple act of sitting. The project opens up durational forms and listening practices, and Heidi’s One-Note framework (working with a single movement or musical note), which she developed during her time at the Rose Choreographic School. The work investigates how bodies relate to time, space, and each other through minimal yet attentive gestures and actions.
The project explores the tension between singular and plural identities, what it means to identify, look like, move and sit as a dyke. And what does it mean for an audience to sit with and alongside? The project challenges the expectation that queerness is performed in legible ways, offering a porous, shifting formation instead: a temporary collective shaped by difference and co-presence, shared scores with intersecting histories and identities. The piece asks what becomes visible when we sit, and with whom, and how.
Other notes:
If you were interested in performing in this work as a Dyke, please see the Open Call here.
The audience is invited to sit with the work. They can watch, and they can also join in if they want to. No one will be asked to move in demanding ways, and performers and audience will not touch. Seating will be on the floor, in chairs, and on beanbags. People can change position, come and go, or take a break whenever they like.
A photographer will be present at the sharing, please let us know if you do not wish to be photographed on the day.
