Studioing: Free Practice

An invitation from the Artistic Cohort 2024-26.

Join the Artistic Cohort to play with the choreographic through dancing, thinking, dreaming, witnessing and studying together.

Across these sessions the Artistic Cohort are opening some of the individual and collective questions they've been busy with across the last two years of Rose Choreographic School:

What can we do in a studio?

How can our practices pollute each other?

How do we think and learn through difference?

How do we sustain being in relation to one another?

We have no answers, the studios are open: Come speculate with us.

Two poets. One mic. A conversation. Just words.
Free Practice is a poetry night shaped by an exchange between two poets. Over 45 minutes, they move in and out of each other’s work, riffing, responding, colliding, and allowing their poems to transform in the presence of one another.

Like a back-to-back DJ set, the performance becomes a shared journey, with two voices weaving between rhythm, feeling, and ideas, guided not by a script but by trust and curiosity. This is a special edition of Free Practice, as it will see Rohan Ayinde, who is usually the host, take to the mic for the first time alongside a guest poet. They will then engage in conversation with Myriam D. Diatta and singer Anaiis, with Myriam hosting the conversation in dialogue with her newly published book, Doing Creative Work from Your Political Body.

The session will start at 6.30pm and go on till 10pm: poetry from 7.30pm - 8pm, conversation from 8.15 - 9.30pm.
